Prep: 1. Preheat oven to 400. 2. Zest lemon (if using). 3. Cut woody ends off of asparagus. Make: 1. Toss asparagus with olive oil and salt and pepper to taste, place on baking sheet and roast until tender, about 12 minutes. 2. Meanwhile, melt butter in a small skillet over medium heat; cook 3 minutes or until lightly browned. 3. Remove from heat; stir in soy sauce and balsamic vinegar. Drizzle over asparagus, tossing well to coat. Garnish with cracked pepper and lemon zest, if desired.
