Gatheredtable
adapted from Gwyneth Paltrow, "It's All Good"

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground turkey
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 2 shallots, finely minced
  • 2/3 cup fresh cilantro, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon minced red chili pepper
  • 2 teaspoon fish sauce
  • sea salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoon canola oil

Directions

Prep: 1. Mince garlic, chili peppers, and shallots. Chop cilantro. Make: 1. Mix all of the ingredients except for the oil. Form into 6 burgers, about 3/4" thick. 2. Heat skillet over medium heat. Brush each side of the burgers with the oil. Cook for about 7 minutes on the first side, then flip and cook the second side for 5 minutes or until cooked through.

Notes

The fish sauce makes all of the difference in these! They are so surprisingly good you will probably want to make a double batch. This recipe was originally made with ground chicken, but we prefer ground turkey because it's a little easier to find and often less expensive. We've also used all the mix-in ingredients as a marinade for chicken breasts with great results. If you prefer to grill these just preheat the grill before beginning prep and then when the grill is hot cook burgers for 6-8 minutes per side, or until done through.
