Homemade Hoisin Sauce

Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3 tablespoon water
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 4 teaspoons rice vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon tahini (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon sriracha
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional)

Directions

Make: 1. Combine all ingredients. 2. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then lower heat and simmer uncovered until sauce thickens, about 5 minutes, stirring frequently. If you prefer to omit the cornstarch, simmer for 10 minutes to thicken. 3. Let cool to room temperature and use immediately or store in the fridge in an airtight container.
