Notes

After many years of experimenting it turns out that the secret to pumpkin pie is whiskey! Not enough that it becomes boozy, just enough to give it a tiny almost unidentifiable something extra. That said, the whiskey isn't strictly necessary, but like the title says it definitely makes it better. If you want to make your own pie crust try our "basic pie crust" recipe in the gatheredtable library. We have cream cheese and gluten-free pie crust recipes as well! - https://www.gatheredtable.com/recipes/61739 To really take this up a notch make your own pumpkin puree - https://www.gatheredtable.com/recipes/702824 You can also use heavy cream instead of evaporated milk if you prefer, and if you have cardamon on hand adding 1/4 teaspoon is an amazing addition!
