Grilled Blackened Tilapia

Ingredients

  • 1 pound tilapia
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste

Directions

Prep: 1. Preheat grill to as high as it will go. 2. Mix all spices together (feel free to make substitutions if needed). 3. Rinse tilapia and pat dry. Make: 1. Brush both sides of tilapia with olive oil (you can also use melted butter if you prefer). 2. Coat both sides of the tilapia with a generous amount of the rub. 3. Oil grill and/or grill basket well and grill tilapia covered for 2 min. per side (if grill is not at max heat, this may take 3 or 4 min. per side).

Notes

Use a flexible grill basket if you have one. If not, just be careful when flipping because the fish will flake apart a bit. This also works very well in a grill pan on the stove top.
